Meet Our Teachers


4 Year Old Teacher/Preschool Director: Nicole Schmitz

    Nicole Schmitz has been the center director since August 2015, and also serves as the 4-year-old preschool teacher. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2014 with a BA in early childhood along with a family studies minor and special education endorsement. Nicole enjoys spending time with friends and family, being outdoors, and cooking. She lives in Independence, Iowa, with her husband and is a member of the Immaculate Conception parish in Gilbertville where she helps teach Sunday school. 


4 Year Old Associate: Liz Janaszak

     Liz Janaszak has been working at Wee Care Preschool, as the 4 year old associate, since August 2012. She attended Hawkeye Community College and graduated with an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. Liz’s family attends the Evangelical Free Church of Oelwein. Church is an active part of her life with her involvement in VBS, the AWANA youth ministry and helping out in the Church nursery. She has enjoyed working with a large variety of children including those with special needs. Liz enjoys talking and playing with the children in her classroom throughout their school day. She lives in Oelwein with her husband and daughter.


3 Year Old Teacher: Linda Michael

    Linda Michael began as the Preschool Associate in August of 2010, and is excited to begin her fourth year as teacher.  She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, class of 1996 with a BA in Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Special Education endorsement.  Linda worked for the City of Jesup until 2009.  She is a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jesup where she is currently serving as a media technician. Linda enjoys planning a variety of experiences for the children in her class. She resides in Walker with her family.


3 Year Old Associate: Lanette Simons

    Lanette Simons started as our associate in January, 2013. She has led a busy life working and raising her children as well. Lanette is active and creative in the classroom, keeping the children busy. Her grandchildren are around the same age as the children in her classroom, so her knowledge generates from school and life expereinces. Lanette's family keeps her busy in Independence.
